Meet Pastor Alwell Imo
Missionary to the Deaf
Assemblies of God, Nigeria

Pastor Alwell Imo is a minister of the God with the General Council, Assemblies of God, Nigeria, in good standing. He has God’s mandate to take the Gospel of Christ to the Deaf in their language. He answered the call of God into Deaf Ministry in March 2007.

Pastor Alwell earned a Diploma in Theology from Assemblies of God Divinity School of Nigeria, Old Umuahia, Diploma in Desktop Publishing/Designing from Coal City Computer College & Desktop Publishing, Enugu. He is trained and  certified in the use of Patterned Language, a highly effective method of teaching English to Deaf children, by Gospel Ministries for the Deaf, Oregon.

Pastor Alwell, before joining Deaf Ministry was a senior pastor at Evangel Church of Nigeria for 15 years, where he served last as National Director for Sunday School Department. Since joining Deaf Ministry of the Assemblies of God, Nigeria, Pastor Alwell has passionately served in various capacities: Teacher at EVAMI Special Schools & Rehabilitation Center, Enugu, Sign Language interpreter – Deaf Church, Abakpa, Trans-Ekulu, Coal-Camp, and Uwani, all in Enugu, Enugu District Coordinator for AG-CARE (Compassion Ministries) Department. Pastor Alwell has been deeply involved also with the Deaf pastors training school in Nigeria which began in 2010.

Pastor Alwell has striven to improve his ability to interpret for and teach Deaf individuals. It has been the goal of his life to become skilled at both, and to obtain the proper degrees and certifications to train other interpreters and teachers in Nigeria and other countries in Africa. He is currently undertaking Interpreters Training Program at Houston Community College, Houston Texas, USA.

Pastor Alwell currently resides in Houston, TX while his wife Ugoeze lives in Enugu, Nigeria with their children.
